Don't let the "barn" designation fool you: One Sagaponack home is truly high-end, commanding $200,000 for a summer rental this past season.
Matthew Breitenbach of the Corcoran Group is listing the 10,000-square-foot renovated potato barn, which has come a long way from its humble roots. The six-bedroom, five-bath dwelling retains the skeleton of the original barn, now updated with an elevator, a media room, a gym, a steam room and sauna, and a gunite pool.
"It's stylish and original," Breitenbach says. "It's a diamond in the rough."
A quirky fact about the house is that the kitchen once belonged to musician Billy Joel, who removed it from his North Haven home before selling that property in 2003. The owner of this Sagaponack home later purchased the kitchen and installed it here.
The 0.32-acre property is for sale for $6.995 million and includes an additional barn with three artist studios and a loft; it can also be purchased separately for $1.995 million.
The studios were once an art gallery. Artist Richard Prince, known for his "rephotographing" of iconic advertising images, now rents two of the studios.
The property has views of Poxabogue Pond to the west, and the nearby Wolffer Estate Vineyards to the east.
